It’s Coach Carlos from CrossFit Impact and today, I wanted to take a few minutes to write about the upcoming Reebok CrossFit Games Open 2014 event, scheduled to take place on 2/27/2014.
The Reebok CrossFit Games Open pulled in more than 138,000 participants in 2013 and this year’s event is expected to be even larger, with thousands of athletes participating in locations across the globe. The 2014 games will be even better and more inclusive than past years’ events.
Lots of the clients here at CrossFit Impact have approached me to discuss the Reebok CrossFit Games. It seems that many CrossFitters believe that this event is only for the ‘elite’ athletes, but that’s not the case at all!
The Reebok CrossFit Games Open is for every and any CrossFit enthusiast who’s ready to take it to the next level with a challenge that will inspire you to achieve your fitness goals!
One of the reasons why I love the Reebok CrossFit Games Open is that it provides you with a great opportunity to test your fitness and endurance levels. It’s easy to get wrapped up and focused on the competition and how you measure up in comparison to other competitors, but that’s really a self- defeating approach — an approach that really doesn’t promote success.
Instead, you should focus on establishing your own goals for this year’s Reebok CrossFit Games Open. What do you hope to achieve? What are your fitness objectives? Once you set out your goals, it’s time to get to work! Think of it as a competition with yourself. Focus on your own progress and your own obstacles, as at the end of the day, you’re all that matters! When it really comes down to it, another athlete’s performance doesn’t really affect you; it’s your own physical state and progress that matters most!
As a coach, I’ve worked with hundreds of clients over the years, including some truly elite athletes; the best of the best. But they rarely view themselves as such! So get that idea out of your mind. It’s time to stop thinking, ‘I’m not an elite athlete, so I can’t take part in this event.’ That’s the mindset of a person who will never become an elite athlete. The reason? Elite athletes don’t make excuses! They accept challenges and take them on with gusto!
So don’t make excuses! (In fact, check out our article on the top ten excuses for not joining the event!) The Reebok CrossFit Games Open isn’t only for elite athletes; it’s for everyone, including you! Take on the challenge and let the CrossFit Impact coaches help you as you work to transform your body and your mind!

Yeah, that’s the point. Nobody does until they’re announced.

Enough, Froning. We go through this every year.

Getting fit isn’t your goal?
7. “I don’t have $20.”

6. “I’m too busy.”
Understandable. You need to save all your time for watching that Sons of Anarchy marathon. Priorities.
5. “I’m scared.”
We all are. There’s a support group for fear. We meet at the box … and do the Open workouts.
4. “Everyone who does the Open dies.”
Um, not true.
3. “My cat is lonely.”
Valid.
2. “I’m not competitive.”
Tell me again why you joined a fitness program with timed workouts and Leaderboards?
1. “I like to work out naked.”
Video the workouts. We’ll review them. Carefully. Trust me on this one.
