Meet our success stories all of which have transformed their lives in the last 8 months and nothing is slowing them down:
Meet Angel…
Intermittent fasting has completely changed my life for the better! I started fasting mid-August 2017 when a fellow gym member posed a quick challenge to me, “try eating from 12 pm to 8 pm.” It seemed simple enough and I decided to try it. A few weeks later, he encouraged me to begin eating at 2 pm and, again, I accepted his challenge.
At first, I was skeptical about fasting and I did not expect anything to come out of it. At 5’2″, I was 150 lbs when I started this journey, and four months later I’ve lost 20 lbs! I follow an 18:6 window starting at 2:00 pm and ending at 8:00 pm and have noticed that, with time, intermittent fasting has gotten easier. Intermittent fasting allowed me to regain my confidence both in and outside of the gym and more importantly, has allowed me to develop a healthy relationship with food. I’m beyond happy with my results and at this point, I don’t see any reason to stop, as IF is completely flexible to my wants and needs and is a super clear-cut way to continue reaching my fitness goals. I’m 100% certain I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t started IF.
Meet Kevin R…
I kept asking myself why didn’t I start intermittent fasting sooner? For months, I watched Carlos and other members at the gym lose weight and get fitter. I thought because they were younger and worked out more than me that’s why they were achieving such great results.
That, however, is not the case. I have been doing intermittent fasting for almost 11 weeks and have achieved results I never thought possible. I have dropped almost 3 pant sizes, have more energy, sharper focus and been able to lift more weight. My body has started to change in ways that make me want to make intermittent fasting a permanent part of my life.
Meet Derek W…
Intermittent fasting has not only changed the way I look, but it has also drastically changed the way I think about food, diets, working out, and just everyday activities. Before I was eating for energy. I had this mindset that food gave you energy, and you needed three meals a day to keep you awake and moving. Well, I was 100% wrong, because I often got fatigued from eating too much during these meals. I switched over to intermittent fasting and not only quickly dropped unwanted fat but also built more mental discipline.
The first week was very hard (as are all new diets), but the second week started to get a little easier (lots of water helped to curb appetite), and now the rest is history. Strict eating/dieting was very hard for me as I would often look forward to my “cheat” meal once a week, but we all know that turns into a couple more cheat meals throughout the week, and then you start beating yourself up over it.
With intermittent fasting, it is simply calories in / calories out during a specific time window of the day. We all have busy schedules as well as like to enjoy entertainment at night that causes us to not have that perfectly “clean” meal – whether it be a burger and a beer, or a chicken fettuccine alfredo and wine. Intermittent fasting allows you to have those meals and it won’t affect you that drastically because you are simply putting fewer calories in your body throughout the day. I still enjoy my “occasional” burger, pizza, spaghetti, beers, etc., yet managed to lose about 20lbs. I was simply putting way too many calories in my body from eating throughout the day, and now with intermittent fasting, I have more energy throughout the day, feel much healthier, a more disciplined mindset, and believe it or not – even stronger! I recommend anyone to try it for at least 3 months and see how you look, but most of all how you feel.
1) What made you start intermittent Fasting?
a. I knew it was time to start something new when I was not happy with the way my body looked. I tried to eat three “clean” meals a day, but often got bored with the food choices (chicken, eggs, veggies, rice, etc.). It was too hard to meal prep every week, as well as have to look forward to that one cheat day just to have some pleasuring food.
2) How long have you been doing it?
a. I started on September 15th
3) What did you think of fasting before actually doing it?
a. I thought it would be impossible. I always had this perception that food gives you energy – need breakfast to have energy through the morning, need lunch to have energy through the day, need a snack to have the energy to work out, and then need a big dinner because of how hard I just worked out. Well, I was wrong.
4) Is this something you will do indefinitely?
a. Yes, this is a sustainable lifestyle. Ultimately, I have just cut portions and intake of calories. It is simply calories in, calories out. With that said, intermittent fasting is still necessary because often if I were to have a light breakfast I would grow very hungry shortly after, and find myself snacking.
5) Are you happy with the results?
a. I am very happy with my results so far. I have a long way to continue going through. And the best part about the results is that it was actually pretty simple!
6) What benefits do you see from IF other than the obvious physical changes?
a. A sustainable lifestyle. You can still have that burger or “couple” of beers on the weekend, and won’t be beating yourself up over it the next day. Other diets are too strict and you often get frustrated having to wait till that one “cheat meal.” But with intermittent fasting, it is okay to cheat here and there because you are simply putting fewer calories in your body throughout the day.
b. As stated before, I thought I needed three meals a day for energy. Well, it turns out that having a big lunch just makes you tired of the calorie intake. From IF, I now have more energy throughout the day and no longer believe food is energy needed constantly during the day.
7) Have you ever had this much control of your daily nutritional intake before doing IF?
a. Never, and this is by far the simplest.
8) Would you recommend IF to other people you know?
a. Absolutely!
