My mom is an amazing woman. Not only did she raise four boys by herself, but she started her own practice, worked full-time, and cared for thousands of patients on top of that. Despite the hectic nature of our lives, my brothers and I never felt neglected, uncared for, or alone – because we weren’t. Our mom was always there for us, every step of the way.
She has always put everyone else’s needs before her own and remained ever humble through it all. The older I get, the more I understand and appreciate the sacrifices she made for her children and the paths she chose to take in life.
The four of us have grown into successful, focused, and motivated men; and we owe it all to our mother – who never once demanded that we do our homework or clean our rooms, but rather, led by example.
I’ve never regretted being raised by a single mom, and if I could go back and do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. She might be a little crazy sometimes (and after four boys, she earns that right!), but she’s also very successful, very happy, and very strong – all attributes she passed on to us. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my mom, and for that, I can’t thank her enough.
In fact, none of us would be here if it wasn’t for our moms; not only did they give birth to us (a feat within itself), but they helped mold us into the people we are today. Which is why, this May, we’re celebrating moms! On Sunday, May 11th, we invite you to bring your mom, bring your kids, heck, bring the whole family for a Mommy and Me Mother’s Day WOD.
I’ll be the first to tell you that living a fit and healthy lifestyle is a lot easier when the whole family is involved – and this is the perfect opportunity to motivate your loved ones to join you on the road to fitness. Even better, it’s the perfect way to show them that fitness can be fun! We’ll start off with the WOD, during which you and yours can workout together (yep, even the kiddos – we’ve made sure this is going to be a great experience for everyone!). After that, prepare to get back to your roots during a classic game of dodge ball (we’re not afraid to play kids vs. parents). By the end of the session, you’ll have spent a super fun 60 minutes with your family, and your kids will be begging for more!
There’s no doubt about it, it’s guaranteed to be a good time for you and your family, but it’s pretty fun for me too! I love seeing all of your little mini- me’s and, even more so, I love seeing how much they love and respect you! Especially after you’ve completed the workout. On top of all of that, it’s pretty cute watching the littler kids try to nab their parents with a dodge ball…
When it comes right down to it, we wanted to give you a fun, healthy way to spend some time with your family (honestly, when’s the last time you played dodge ball with your kids?) – what more could a mother ask for on Mother’s Day? At CrossFit Impact, we love moms!
