Hi, I’m Nicole…
Nicole Belica | CFI Yoga Instructor – info@cfimpact.comNicole Belica has been a member of CrossFit Impact’s coaching team since January 2014. Around the gym, Nicole is known for her expertise in yoga, along with a diverse fitness background and her unwavering enthusiasm, which has inspired so many CrossFit Impact clients to push and achieve their fitness goals.
‘Exercise has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, so my love for physical activity and fitness were instilled at a young age,’ Nicole explained.
She became involved in sports at a young age. Growing up, her favorite sports were volleyball and downhill skiing. She also went on to play tennis at the collegiate level while attending the University of Wisconsin at Madison. But she didn’t discover her true fitness passion — yoga — until she was in graduate school in Southeast Asia.
‘Upon returning to America, I began pairing my yoga practice with resistance and interval training. I also started to focus more on incorporating nutrition into my fitness regime, which was the missing component to my overall well-being,’ Nicole explained.
She achieved an optimal state of fitness when she began to blend yoga with resistance training and proper nutrition. It was this regime that enabled Nicole to improve her flexibility, strength and overall fitness.
Notably, Nicole didn’t always love yoga. In fact, she describes her first yoga experience as a less than positive one.
She explained, ‘As part of conditioning for the tennis team, we had to do Bikram yoga. It was extremely challenging and I wasn’t excelling at it…not at all. My body was simply not used to moving in certain ways. But during my time in Asia, I came back to yoga. I had suffered a significant knee injury and I needed a low-impact fitness solution. I tried completely different types of yoga, including Ashtanga and Hatha Vinyasa. It was an eye-opening experience and very different from my first experience with Bikram yoga. The poses, variations, sequences, and ways to make your body move are seemingly limitless.’
Nicole believes that ‘the true beauty in yoga lies in the fact that it’s an all encompassing practice, where you can link body and mind. Participants can also find different ways to explore the full potential of your body. The overall health benefits are infinite. It’s these factors that made me fall in love with yoga.’
Nicole says that she experienced so much enjoyment and so many benefits from yoga that this motivated her to teach yoga so that others may discover the same benefits. She added, ‘I firmly believe that if everyone did a little bit more yoga, the whole world would be a much happier and healthier place.’
Nicole describes yoga as the foundation of her workout. And now, it’s also the foundation for many at CrossFit Impact.
‘Pairing yoga with CrossFit is a great combination. You’ll see an increased range of motion and flexibility that will allow you to take your workout to the next level. You’ll also enjoy other benefits, such as increased self-awareness, mobility, and improved overall health.’
Nicole Belica looks forward to helping CrossFit Impact clients as they work to integrate yoga into their fitness and wellness regime.
