“Accuracy is the twin brother of honesty…

August 6, 2015 By Coach Carlos

“Accuracy is the twin brother of honesty; inaccuracy, of dishonesty.” -Nathaniel Hawthorne

Humans are competitive by nature. If we weren’t competitive, it would be virtually impossible to progress forward. We need that sense of competition to fuel and inspire us to push the envelope. That desire to be great is something that drives us to become the amazing, unique individuals that we are.

We all want to make great strides and gains in our workouts, but when did we start sacrificing integrity and quality in our movements in an attempt to reach that end point faster? Well, at CrossFit Impact, we didn’t. We maintain a focus on quality, integrity and form.

The CrossFit community is unique in that it provides each of us with the opportunity to come together and participate in a sport that is intense, yet fun. Many CrossFit workouts require intensity, but one should never become so overwhelmed by that intensity that they lose sight of that objective. You must maintain a focus on the end result. Fitness is a long-term game. You should be constantly working to improve and refine your body and your abilities.

So why take the easy way out? Why cheat?

At CrossFit Impact, we have united to build an amazing family-like fitness community that revolves around principles such as integrity and quality. We have created a diverse, well-rounded team of athletes who share the same passion for the Sport of Fitness.

Even though some workouts may call to be “scored” as an individual workout, at the end of that hour, one fact remains: we are a team. The same people who stand beside you as you sweat, laugh, cry and sometimes-even puke are the very people who will help you get through each and every one of your workouts.

When you cheat on your workout, you’re not just lying to yourself, but you’re being dishonest with all of the people who stood beside you and helped you as you struggled and pushed through those 20 minutes of hell. How does skipping reps become a measurable standard for your workouts long-term? The answer is simple: It doesn’t.
